Dance

hhs student dancers in a straight line

The Horizon Dance program supports the artistic expression and education of dancers at all levels. With emphasis on developing choreography and technique, students at the advanced levels are challenged to create their own work and see it come to life on stage; while dancers at introduction levels explore movement and performance in a space that feels safe and supportive for beginners.

Horizon Dance has two formal performances each year for all students in the program but offers additional optional performance experiences both inside and outside of school throughout the year. Students are also given the opportunity to take master classes from guest teachers, attend performances of professional dance companies, and go on out-of-state field trips to expose them to the dance industry outside of Arizona.

Students in Horizon Dance are likewise recognized for their academic achievement through NHSDA (National Honor Society for Dance Arts) and/or their dedication to dance proficiency by completing a capstone project their senior year in pursuit of the AZ State Seal for Performing Arts in Dance on their diploma. Dual Enrollment (college) credit is available for students in Advanced Dance.
