Digital Photography at Horizon

The Digital Photography instructional program prepares students to use technical expertise, creativity, and composition skills to produce and preserve images that communicate information, convey ideas, moods, and feelings, tell a story, or record an event.

Students will develop an in-depth understanding of the operation and maintenance of professional-grade digital cameras and specialized photographic equipment; natural, on-camera, off-camera, and modified lighting; image composition; and the use of computers and specialized software to record, enhance, and manipulate digital images. Students develop leadership and community service skills through participation in a career and technical student organization (CTSO) FBLA, where they can compete locally, state, or internationally.

"CTE shaped my life. Within the CTE programs, I found my love for design and for capturing moments. When I was in high school, my goal was to learn how to create every aspect of a yearbook and to rank in the National Yearbook Competitions (which are a thing). I learned to how write like a journalist, how to design industry-quality page layouts, and how to photograph all forms of content to help drive my stories. Without CTE, I would not have grown to be an internationally published photographer working in this field."
