Student Government

Horizon’s Student Government (STUGO) is an elective course designed to develop students’ leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

STUGO provides a platform for students to share ideas, advocate for their peers, and contribute to a positive school culture. Members of this class demonstrate strong leadership and a commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all Horizon students and staff.

All members are active in the Arizona Association of Student Councils (AASC) and attend at least two leadership conferences annually.

Student Government is responsible for planning and executing engaging events that bring the student body together throughout the year. This includes organizing school assemblies, dances, spirit weeks, and other activities that promote school spirit and community involvement. Some of the events STUGO is responsible for are:

  • Husky 101: Freshman Camp
  • Assemblies
  • Homecoming
  • Trunk or Treat
  • Senior Sunrise/Senior Sunset
  • Powderpuff and Powderbuff
  • Prom
  • Graduation
